The tragedy and the triumph (Vol 1 No 44)
The tragedy and the triumph (Vol 1 No 44)
When we visit Calvary
There we see such tragedy;
Hear the shouts to ‘Crucify’;
Feel the hate intensify;
There stands Jesus silently;
Left alone so dreadfully.
When we visit Calvary
There we see brutality;
Public torture, curse and shame;
Insurrection was the claim.
Victim of grim treachery;
Jesus suffered frightfully.
When we visit Calvary
There we see gross agony;
Yet he asked, with shattered limb,
Pardon for those killing him.
Love born from a travesty!
Grace from inhumanity!
Sometimes right and wrong collide;
Then we’re shown ‘the crucified’;
Love can always come to life
In hostility and strife;
When we visit Calvary
Love explodes from cruelty.
