Easter to Pentecost     Easter 4    John 10:11-18, particularly verses 11-16

Good shepherd (YB No 119

The gospel writers looked to him

In whom they saw the ‘godly’ one;

Good Shepherd of the human flock;

He showed his care for everyone.

The hired man, he shows no care;

When the wolf comes, he runs away;

Without protection, sheep unguarded

Can be scattered, go astray.

From many folds he brings his sheep

Into one flock; they know his voice;

They listen to his words of love

And in them they can all rejoice.

Jesus, Good Shepherd of us all,

Of joyful ones and those who weep;

He calls us to protect and love,

To shepherd all God’s precious sheep.
