We come to join with thankful hearts
For new life just begun;
The pain has given way to joy;
The will to live has won.
In ancient symbol we unite
Christ Jesus and our lives;
In harmony with him we know
Abundant life arrives.
We symbolise with Jesus’ death
How evil is so strong;
Yet stronger still we bring to mind
His victory over wrong.
We symbolise new life with Christ;
New birth of what is right;
In him we see and understand
What brings us to the light.
Refreshing water, cleansing us
Reminds us of God’s grace;
We celebrate in sacrament
God’s welcome and embrace.
