Held in God's embrace (Vol 1 No 51)

We are travelling through

What is past, what is new.

What gives joy and what causes disgrace.

In our life we have known

Where we’ve faltered or grown,

Times we’d like to retain or replace.

Look at his face.  Everyone has a place;

For, by Christ, we are welcomed; held in God’s full embrace.

When our days turn to night;

When we search for the light;

When we look for a comforting space.

When our courage is spent

We are withered and bent,

When we know we are last in the race,

Look at his face.  Everyone has a place;

For, by Christ, we are welcomed; held in God’s full embrace.

If events just unroll

And we have no control

When our lives we might like to retrace,

But when pushed to and fro

We will still choose to go

To the future and not our birthplace.

Look at his face.  Everyone has a place;

For, by Christ, we are welcomed; held in God’s full embrace.

If our fears multiply

When we have no reply

And the sinking we cannot replace;

There is still a good word,

And whenever it’s heard

It is full of God’s love and God’s grace.

Look at his face.  You and I have a place;

For, by Christ, we are welcomed; held in God’s full embrace.
