Stress and Anxiety (Vol 4 No 104)

Stress and anxiety

Can sap our energy;

When troubles come we can succumb

To life’s disharmony;

But Jesus’ word is clear;

We have no need to fear;

He lived our life with all its strife;

And said that he’d stay near.

Shallow and needless care

About the clothes we wear

Can cause us stress, just to impress;

Our beauty is elsewhere;

Birds cannot reap or sow;

Think how the lilies grow;

They cannot spin, yet from within

Their beauty is on show.

Harbour no anxious thought

For things that count for naught;

Wealth of a king can never bring

The wisdom Jesus taught;

He taught through his campaign

That God could surely reign;

He leads us through when we pursue

The growth of God’s domain.
