He died (Vol 3 No 60)
He died (Vol 3 No 60)
The hill on which they raised the cross -
That dark and lonely place
Is where we see the tragedy;
This sad and deep disgrace.
His closest friends abandon him;
Deserted by his own;
He thought God had forsaken him;
He suffers, dies alone.
The shame he bears is so unjust;
Our tears well up inside;
Confusion and dismay crowd in;
“Why is he crucified?”
While dying he still voices love;
We hear his words today;
Inspired, quickened in our hearts
We strive to love this way.
The conflict ending with his death
Is not his destiny;
For care, forgiveness, courage, love
Explode from Calvary.
