Scars on hands and feet (Vol 4 No 19)
Scars on hands and feet (Vol 4 No 19)
The scars he had on hands and feet,
The scars he had on hands and feet,
Were scars of love and not defeat;
They voice the struggle and the woe,
The clash, when evil is the foe.
They silently recite the crime
Of violent force ‘gainst love sublime;
They shout aloud of victory;
Yet forged in such a tragedy.
These scars appear when force is used
Against dissent of power abused;
And Jesus warns us of the price -
He paid the utmost sacrifice.
The story told in bread and wine
Recounts these wounds of love divine.
“Take up your cross and follow me.”
He points the way to victory.
