Life cut short (Vol 3 No 94)
Life cut short (Vol 3 No 94)
When a spirit is so troubled,
When a life is cut too short,
Then it is we look for answers;
Does life’s purpose come to naught?
We can sigh the words - ‘If only …’;
We can wish to change the past;
But we know we have no access
To things gone; they all hold fast.
We must live with vexing questions;
Hard! Unfair though that may be;
Good friends may afford some respite;
Love may ease our tragedy.
Can we quell the blame we harbour -
Not allow it undermine
Moving forward, finding comfort
In the love we call divine?
God within is not a stranger
To the pain we have to bear;
God within shares all our sorrow;
God within becomes our prayer.
