The authors of the Bible shared
The wisdom of their time;
They sought to paint some pictures of
What was for them sublime.
Communities of Hebrew scribes
And of the early church
Are those we honour for their words;
Their willingness to search.
This book of searching can inspire
More searching to be done;
With challenge of new gospel truths
New insights can be won.
We should not look for dogma here;
Not paramount demand;
The Bible can advance our search
And help our faith expand.
