Certain of uncertainty (Vol 1 No 60)
In life, with such uncertainty;
We long to feel at peace;
But with such complex liberty
We feel our stress increase.
When, in the maze we grope each day,
‘Confusion’ is our name.
When change unsettles life, we say,
“Please, let things stay the same!”
No easy answers anymore;
We know there never was!
The slick and glib we now ignore;
We question more because
We know we are responsible
For this world of today;
We know God’s not accountable
For what we do and say.
In knowledge, we have help at hand
To live life with less fear;
With learning, wisdom can expand,
And help the truth come clear.
But attitudes cannot remain
In ages long ago;
Our understandings must ordain
Beliefs that help us grow.
When we discern a brighter light,
Act out the God within,
Then - ‘God is love’- that great insight -
Is where we must begin.
We do not need a certainty,
However much desired;
For Jesus knew love’s energy
Is all that is required.
