“Hear the Word of God”, was the pow’rful rod
Which the prophets used constantly
To make people hear, make completely clear,
What they uttered was God’s decree.
As forceful was one called Jesus,
A young prophet from Galilee.
Like the prophets too, he enraged a few
With his striking authority;
He explained the Law better than before,
Yet with greater simplicity.
This prophet, the one called Jesus,
Taught the crowds with such clarity.
For our world’s domain, he proclaimed God’s reign;
Spoke of now, not eternity.
He announced Good News; he would not accuse;
He would set broken victims free.
They came to this prophet, Jesus,
And they listened most eagerly.
As we live our life midst the joy and strife,
Midst delight and calamity,
We can hear his word, and be undeterred
In our struggle for harmony.
We hear from this prophet, Jesus.
