Faith and religion must work. Faith and religion need to demonstrate how they can be part of the growth and development of individuals and of human communities. Every individual grasps the energy of faith and is shaped by it. In that grasping and shaping the question will be asked - Does faith work? How does it work? If it does not work it is no good.

Faith and religion need to show
Just how they help us grow;
They need to demonstrate the way
They guide us through each day.
Do faith, religion set us free?
Enhance community?
If they are but an empty shell
They do not serve us well.
We search for faith that works in life,
In happiness and strife,
Religion that gives strength to cope,
That points to light and hope.
We grasp for faith’s bold energy
To shape us thoroughly;
And as it fashions all our ways
It frames our prayer and praise.
