Companionship with our 'self' (Vol 1 No 65)
Companionship with our 'self' (Vol 1 No 65)
The loveliness of sea and land,
The joy of ear and eye
Is sometimes not enough to still
The fears that dwell nearby.
The loneliness that’s born of fear
Brings emptiness and gloom;
We feel there is no space for peace
Within that anxious room.
We search within to hear a word,
To find a friendly light
To guide our course, to calm our hearts,
To give unclouded sight.
It is as though we have our ‘self’ -
Our ‘person’, deep inside;
We can respect and love that one,
And in that love abide.
Companionship within our souls
Revives our energy;
Renews our spirits, stirs our hopes,
And kindles harmony.
Deep in our beings we still know
Our inner enemies;
But deeper in our souls is where
We feel God’s gentle breeze.
