Lent 4     John9:1-41, particularly verses 1-3

Is it God's will? (YA No 31)

The mystery of the universe

We live with blessings or a curse?

We’re creatures of the here and now

We wonder, When? What? Why? and How?

What happens - Is it God’s own will,

Some secret purpose to fulfil?

In horror, death, despair and pain -

Where is our God?  We look in vain.

Yet when the darkest night drags on,

Disaster, ruin, ‘All is gone.’,

The human spirit, from defeat

Revives; refuses to retreat.

So how does hope and vision bloom

When captured in our darkest room?

How does the spark of life ignite

Our fractured longings for the light?

When others care, we’re not alone.

When hands reach out, God’s love is shown.

When tears are shared, when help is nigh,

Soft gentle words can pacify.

When we release our God inside

Then love explodes.  It will provide

The strength, the confidence to live.

For Christ, in us, has much to give.
