Wondrous and yet common birth (Vol 1 No 27)
Wondrous and yet common birth.
Born like us from seeds of earth.
Cattle trough, a holy bed,
God is worshipped in a shed.
Rising from within our kind;
Human body; human mind.
Jesus Christ, dependent child;
For the moment, meek and mild.
God is born a baby boy;
Those believing sing for joy.
Lowly shepherds come in fear,
Yet their worship is sincere,
Gifts are brought from far and wide;
Given by the Dignified.
Jesus, in the manger, warm;
Love appears in human form.
Godliness in him revealed.
God’s indwelling here is sealed.
God is born. With joy we sing;
Hallelujahs loudly ring.
Jesus Christ, in Him we see
How our life is meant to be.
Joins the human and divine,
As with branches on the vine.
Not divided, but complete;
Bonded spirits, not discrete.
God exposed in human stock;
Shepherd, yet within the flock.
God is born. With joy we sing;
Hallelujahs loudly ring.Tune Mendelsshon AHB 227 TiS 30
