Abraham Blessing

Many teach the Abrahamic blessing was by faith only, but Peter's sermon in Acts 3 shows it in a different light.

It is through the faith Christ delivered, not just faith in the person of Christ, but faith coming by the person of Christ.

Act 3:16  And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

This includes Christ's preaching, his demonstrated power, his resurrection, his ascension, and his empowering of the apostles to demonstrate his current power. It was the early church exercising faith in Christ's ascension and power by the Holy Spirit that healed the man.

Him being healed did not mean he was saved. The miracle produced faith leading to following Christ's leadership.

It is through faith in Christ's name leading to repentance and conversion, it preceeds forgiveness.

Act 3:19  Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

He then gives an example from Moses.

Act 3:22  For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.

Thus faith leading to us listening to and doing everything Christ told us.

and then Peter directly ties the Abrahamic Covenant to turning from sin to righteousness,

Act 3:25  Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

Act 3:26  Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

Thus, according to Peter who was speaking by the Holy Spirit, God ties the blessing to turning from iniquity. This includes the removal of past sins through baptism, and removal of future sins as we repent and confess our sins as they occur.

The apostle did not see the covenant and blessing of Abraham as faith only.

(Even though the chapter does not mention baptism, it falls under the general obedience of several of the phrases.)

Him you shall hear in all things.
