Augustine and Vaticanus

Since Augustine and Codex Vaticanus are from the same era and from the same city it is hard to believe they were not connected in purpose.

Also, it was written just after Constantine gave the roman church title of State religion.

Constantine refused the title of Pontifex Maximus (High Priest), saying the Title should be bestowed upon the Bishop of Rome.

His wording showed that prior to his directive, the Bishop of Rome was never called Pontifex Maximus. Under Roman Religious law only one from a priesthood could wear the title. Emperors could wear it only if they came from a Roman priesthood.

Julius Caesar was a priest of the empire before becoming emperor, that is why he could act as High Priest and be emperor.

Council verdicts became law under Constantine.

The New Testament had passages against persecuting others into adopting Christianity.

Codex Vaticanus was perhaps altered to allow persecution by the state Christian religion. It allowed Catholics to persecute.

Vaticanus left out 'Do good to thine enemies", thus leaving only love and prayer toward enemies.

They could say we pray because we love them, we chastise them because we love them.

Nevertheless, it is still proof Roman Catholics adopted Roman religious law and tradition, instead of following Christ.
