Thousand Divisions

Catholics use our division into three groups as a proof against us, while ignoring their division into hundreds of denominations and thousands of groups. Catholicism caused many divisions through the centuries.

We are divided into Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, and Churches of Christ. I even believe many Disciples of Christ have fallen from the faith accepting Unity in Diversity concerning core beliefs such as baptism. They may teach baptism is to be saved, but do not require this belief among all those they fellowship..

I would say the  Church of Christ is really not divided in its core beliefs. If someone deviates incore beliefs they are likely not the church at all.

Division in and of itself never disproves the church since Paul wrote "Divisions must come", so if you had no division around you it would prove  you aren't the church. Satan is always attacking the truth. Unity is always the Christian goal.

Unity is a commandment.

1Co 1:10  Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Yet, unity will always be disturbed, since division is actually from Christ. He has made it so that all people have an unclouded choice between the world and his people. We are given a choice of following Christ and his government, the Popes and their government, and Caliphates and their worldly government.

Luk 12:51  Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:

Luk 12:52  For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.

Christ uses the psychology of unbelief to divide the unbeliever from the believer.

1. Islam separated itself based upon disbelief of Christ and his death.

2. Baptists separated themselves based upon disbelief in baptism and obedience.

3. Catholics separated themselves not believing the Law of Christ was sufficient, thus developing their own law.

Christ actually uses the concept of division to give us clear choices.

Rom 16:26  But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

Truth is made manifest for obedience, and division gives man clear choices as two belief systems can be compared.
