Faith In God's Operation

Some dismiss Baptism for remission of sins as Trusting in one's own righteousness. Yet, Paul described it as trusting in God;s operation. In baptism you are trusting in God's work as he raised the dead.

Col 2:12  Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

The term operation of God is interesting because it is used in the old testament of those who disregard God's work. In principle it would apply to anything people dismiss.

Athiests who don't believe in creation.

Israelites who dismissed God's protection.

People who dismiss baptism.

etc.

Psa 28:5  Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.

It is also important that some put more glory in human parties or the elevation of the human spirit, vs God's operation and work.

Isa 5:12  And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands.

If we put more time into elevating the human spirit vs. God's work we may be lost.

Consider this when visiting a church that promotes a party atmosphere vs attending to things like baptism and honorable worship.
