My God My God

The Trinitarian doctrine had some teachings from Philosophy.

1. God was a substance.

2. The Father and Christ are co-equal.

Their interpretation of Phil. 2:1-9 seems to be used as Christ's current equality, and not past equality when Christ was with God before coming to earth. Jesus is said to be in the form of God before becoming human..

Yet after coming to earth it is clear they are not equal in position. Though Christ and the father were together in heaven, it is unclear if they were equal in position before coming to earth. Paul said Christ thought it not robbery to be equal with God. Once Christ came to earth it became very clear that they were not equal at that point.

Jesus called the Father my God.

"My God My God, why hast though forsaken me"

Some may think this ended at the ascension, but he sat down at the right hand of the Father, and to this day he worships his father.

The book of revelation provides some insight into this relationship as Jesus says,

Rev 3:5  He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Some saw Jesus as a son only at his becoming man, but this relationship surely continues.

Rev 3:12  Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

He is still his God.

It is sure that today that Jesus still calls the Father his God.

The trinity doctrine of ce-equality doesn't really address the current relationship. It mis-applied verses speaking of the past.

The Father's throne is above all. All glory to the Father and to his Son. Each has their own throne.

Rev 3:21  To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

Heb 1:8  But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

It seems that we will be granted to serve under Christ through eternity; As Christ served on his Father's throne.

We really only know what God has revealed about the Godhead, much is a mystery. Catholics shouldn't have hurt and killed over adhering to the council of Nicea. It was sin.
