Mass vs Church

The word Mass is used by the Catholics instead of the word church. It seems this word was challenged in Britain and other areas. The word church and Mass may actually come from words with opposite meanings.

Church = called out and is used for assemblies.

Mass = to send forth and is used of sending someone or to pile up.

Calling vs sending, so opposites.

The Catholic word came from Masse, a latin term. It isn't used in the scriptures. The word mass is used of dust forming clouds in some versions, but it is not used in relation to people coming together.

It is synonymous with amass, which means to pile up or gather together wealth. a = to and mass = pile.

The word church is technically correct because we don't really pile up people. Although Paul used the idea with false groups who would

"heap for themselves teachers"

The word mass is just a heap. It isn't all that biblical because it is a person sending it to a pile vs a person being called and choosing to join themselves.
