Body Burned

One problem with Pentecostalism is that they taught a form of unity in diversity that forced unity even with those who rejected clear Christian doctrines. The argument was that someone who would give their life in martyrdom to Christ, that they would certainly be accepted by Christ. Over the years there have been many Mormons, Jehovah Witness, Catholics, Baptists, and people of all major denominations who died for their faith. Many would say, "Certainly God accepts such even if they disagreed with Christ's teaching in major ways".

In the 1970's if you took a poll of those leaving the Church of Christ this argument plus the Thief on the Cross were the two main arguments.

This was used against me multiple times when I was younger and I kept it in front of me for a good while before I figured out the argument was false. They were not martyred for Christ but for their denomination. It was like General Patton saying the other poor soul should die for his country. Many Nazi's died in world war II for a false and evil cause. Many Muslim's have died for Allah in false and evil causes.

Dieing for an evil cause does not change the cause into something God accepts. Religion is no different, many have died in religious and spiritual wars, but their cause was evil. They had rejected Christ's teaching.

I Cor 13:3  And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

It is possible to die for a cause and still not go to heaven. Charity helps to bring people into unity with Christ vs unity with human ideas.
