Prayer and Confession

Since faith only sees no action of man in the justification process, we should remind them they believe in the sinner's prayer and repentance, which are both actions of man. It is hypocrisy to accept one act of man and not another when commanded by Christ.

Thus they condemn baptism as an act of man but accept prayer and confession as an act of man.

John knew confession of sins, when the sin is known, was a step in salvation for those already Christians. Confession is also an act of man.

He mentioned 3 parts necessary for salvation.

1. Walk in light, necessitating doing truth.

1Jn 1:6  If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

2. fellowship with the church in light.

1Jn 1:7  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

3. Confession

1Jn 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

John wasn't faith only, but taught a christian walk in light, and confession as we sin in life. Confession is an act of faith, but certainly not faith only. We use our heart, mind, and lips.
