Revelation Instruments

Revelation is the Book whereby churches first had authority to use instruments. The rest of the New Testament does not claim instruments nor does it have any mention in the churches.

The Old Testament worship was done away when Christ died on the cross. All of the Holy days and festivals were no longer considered commandments after Christ died, this included the individual acts like burning incense or eating showbread or playing instruments or making sacrifices of animals.

The New Testament says he took away the entire covenant, so we don't have to show where he took away individual acts within the Old Covenant.

Yet, Revelation does contain them, but are they for us.

1. They were in heaven.

2. Rev. 1:1 says they were signified or symbols.

3. Rev. 1:1-2 says there were things that would shortly come to pass, so no evidence during the church age.

4. They were not used by every creature. Rev.5:8

5. Harps were the only instruments, no drums, pianos or electric guitars.

All creatures sang or praised, but only the 4 beasts and 24 elders had harps of God in Rev 5. In Rev 14 the redeemed after a spiritual war had instruments of God.

So, some of the symbolism was future. Not present.

So, there is no evidence it was meant for our generations or people on earth.

There is no evidence all Christians were to play harps. All but the elders used their voices, and not with the Elders harps in unison.

Rev 5:13  And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

How could the people on earth sing in unison with the harps of the Beasts and Elders in heaven? We on earth have never heard literal music from heaven. Unless harps symbolize something else. Perhaps the Gospel or faith in Christ.

The people or creatures on earth used their voices. Rev. 5 actually supports vocal music on earth more than instrumental.

Rev. 14:2 it was only those redeemed from the earth.

Rev. 15:2 and the sea of Glass mingled with fire seems to be after the saints are victorious.

Revelation provides no evidence of harps on earth, quite the opposite. Revelation comes closer to the idea harps symbolize a redeeming faith in Christ.
