Obedience Violates

Many teach that requiring obedience violates the need to trust in God; as if we are trusting in ourselves. It really doesn't because obedience done to invoke God's power and blessing is done with a view towards God's power, not ours. It is a view towards receiving grace.

Obedience nowhere violates any works passages, since it requires humbling ourselves, it fulfills grace passages.

Jas 4:6  ButG1161 he givethG1325 moreG3187 grace.G5485 WhereforeG1352 he saith,G3004 GodG2316 resistethG498 the proud,G5244 butG1161 givethG1325 graceG5485 unto the humble.G5011

The humble receive God's grace, so that obedient humility is a view toward receiving grace instead of believing we do not need grace. See Christ in Phil 2:1-5

He humbled himself and became obedient. Obedience stems from humility.

Humility and submissiveness go hand in hand.

Jas 4:7  SubmitG5293 yourselves thereforeG3767 to God.G2316 ResistG436 theG3588 devil,G1228 andG2532 he will fleeG5343 fromG575 you.G5216

Jas 4:8  Draw nighG1448 to God,G2316 andG2532 he will draw nighG1448 to you.G5213 CleanseG2511 your hands,G5495 ye sinners;G268 andG2532 purifyG48 your hearts,G2588 ye double minded.G1374

Jas 4:9  Be afflicted,G5003 andG2532 mourn,G3996 andG2532 weep:G2799 let yourG5216 laughterG1071 be turnedG3344 toG1519 mourning,G3997 andG2532 your joyG5479 toG1519 heaviness.G2726

Jas 4:10  Humble yourselvesG5013 in the sightG1799 of theG3588 Lord,G2962 andG2532 he shall lift you up.G5312 G5209

Humbling ourselves is only possible in submission. Submission is seen in obedience.

We are to cleanse our hands and purify our hearts.

Humbling ourselves leads to God's grace.

In obedience we give up our own will to do Christ's. So that obedience fulfills humility instead of violating it.
