Bible and Prophecy Finished

The Catholic claim that they gave us the Bible through the councils from 325-396 AD is easily proven false from scripture. The scribes sent to Israel finished their work in the generation that Christ mentions in Matthew 23.

Mat 23:33  Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

Mat 23:34  Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:

Mat 23:35  That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

Mat 23:36  Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

prophets

wise men

scribes  (Wrote the Bible)

The scribes sent to Israel as a witness to them would complete their work within a generation. The Catholic claim it was consummated 200 or more years later is false. It is a lie.

Peter and Jude's writings were to the Dispersed Jews or Diaspora.

Equally, modern prophets  whether Islam, Catholic, Christian Pentecostal are just false teachers who claim prophecy past the era Christ said it would be finished, are simply false teachers.

Pentecostals use Revelation to show prophecy still continued past the written word, as there were still prophets in Corinth past those letters, but Matthew 23 does not say which would end first, the scribes work or the prophets, We do know both prophets and scribes sent to Israel finished their work in that generation.

I believe prophecy ceased by 132 AD. I believe the scriptures were finished by 100 AD. There is no book of the New Testament accepted that was written outside of that generation. If scripture writing by the scribes ceased then oral prophecy ceased. Both would occur in that generation.

Matthew 24 is speaking of the fall of Jerusalem, but does not stop there. The final carrying away of Israel wasn't completed until 132 AD. Matthew 24 mentions the death of some Apostles. But mentions false Christ's after that time.

Between 70 and 132 several Jewish Messiah's arose claiming to be restorers of the fallen temple that was destroyed in 70 AD..

That is the context of Matthew 24:5 and 24:11 and 24:24.

Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Mat 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

The end of Israel wasn't consummated till 132 AD and several skirmishes existed between the Jews and Rome until that time.

Jesus said he would send prophets to Israel until that time

notice

Mat 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

Mat 23:34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:

Mat 23:35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

Mat 23:36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

prophets (Early church sent to Jews)

wise men (Apostles)

scribes (Those writing scriptures)

All would happen in that generation. Revelation was finished within 132 and early prophets still lived past Revelation who testified to the Jews, but were completed in that generation.

The consummation of prophets sent to Israel ended in that generation. The scriptures were completed in that generation as the scribes finished their work.

Most false religions have prophecy continuing past what Christ said. If you allowed for a generation of 80-120 years, then 132 AD fits within that period.

AD 30 to 132 is 100 years, and certainly some did live to be 100. With John writing between 90 and 100, then living to perhaps 110, the scribes work would be finished before, in the generation then living.

Many mark AD 70 as the fall of Israel, but after the temples destruction many returned with claims to rebuild, so that wars continued.
