Nazi Germany

An example of social control would be what occurred in Nazi Germany where most of the leaders were Catholic or protestant. The society itself was 98% christian since it was a Catholic/Protestant majority.

It is similar to today's ideas of a government exercising a Catholic/Protestant majority, where they believe they have God's blessing in making the rules we live under. They believed that some leaders were sent by God.

"How shall I give expression, O my Fuëhrer, to what is in our hearts? How shall I find words to express your deeds? Has there ever been a mortal as beloved as you, my Fuëhrer? Was there ever belief as strong as the belief in your mission. You were sent us by God for Germany!"

- (Reden und Aufsatze, Munich, 1938)

Modern evangelical leaders are no different, they believe they have a divine mission but is it really?

As in America, Germany was 1/3 Catholic, and they were able to wield power beyond their numbers because they convinced others their goal was good for all Christianity.
