Baptism After Justification

Many baptist groups teach baptism is a command for after being saved. As we look at Abraham in relation to circumcision, he was circumcised before being justified in Genesis 22.

He was circumcised after faith and righteousness was imputed to him, however.

The order would be

Had faith Gen 12

continued faith imputed for righteousness Gen 15

Circumcision  Gen 17

faith imputed  Gen 18 per Romans 4

faith imputed  Gen 22 per James 2

Justification    Gen 22 per James 2

Abraham was justified in Genesis 22 according to James 2, not at imputed for righteousness in Gen 15, but at faith in the resurrection and the offering of Isaac in Genesis 22. Justification was through faith accounted from Genesis 15 on but not completed until Genesis 22. Faith can begin years before justification is actually completed.

If baptism were circumcision as baptists and others contend then the order doesn't fit.

Our order fits the order better.

faith in the Gospel

Baptism

Justification in belief of Christ's resurrection, lived out in baptism and the rest of our life.
