Grace and Lot

The story of Lot gives us a true picture of Grace through faith.

Lot was quickened by educating him about the coming destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Gen 19:12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:

Gen 19:13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.

Grace came through warning and direction.

Gen 19:19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:

Grace was not regeneration but quickening to know of coming doom and destruction. It wasn't regeneration because Lot is referred to as "righteous" or "just"Lot. (2 Peter 2:7) Lot already had faith, he just had to be warned about the imminent destruction he did not know about. His faith was not completely enlightened before the warning came.

Quickening in Ephesians is simply educating man about the judgment and how to be saved. The Gospel was hidden from man before Grace was given through Christ and the Apostles.

Eph 3:1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,

Eph 3:2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:

Eph 3:3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,

Eph 3:4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)

Eph 3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
