Pope Changes Prayer

The Pope this week changed the Lord's prayer from "Lead us not into temptation" to "Let us not fall into temptation".

I decided to see if he is accurate and found he was not accurate. The word from Greek is actually lead.

The book of James does use the word fall. It is from a different word that actually mean fall.

Thus, the Pope believes Jesus was ill advised to use the word Lead, which would also accuse the Holy Spirit of mis-leading Jesus.

Since the Holy Spirit was with Jesus and James we should realize both lead and fall have a proper place within context.

The Pope is too immature to see the difference and the Holy Spirit isn't guiding him.

Mat 6:13  AndG2532 leadG1533 usG2248 notG3361 intoG1519 temptation,G3986 butG235 deliverG4506 usG2248 fromG575 evil:G4190

Jas 1:2  MyG3450 brethren,G80 countG2233 it allG3956 joyG5479 whenG3752 ye fall intoG4045 diversG4164 temptations;G3986

Jas 1:3  KnowingG1097 this, thatG3754 theG3588 tryingG1383 of yourG5216 faithG4102 workethG2716 patience.G5281

Notice the Pope is over-stepping his authority and has no right to override Christ and the Apostles.

He is wrong because God does tempt that we may be justified, temptation is used for a good purpose. see Abraham. Abraham wasn't justified yet.

Gen 22:1  And it came to passH1961 afterH310 theseH428 things,H1697 that GodH430 did temptH5254 (H853) Abraham,H85 and saidH559 untoH413 him, Abraham:H85 and he said,H559 Behold,H2009 here I

God can also tempt the unrighteous so they may be ensnared. David prayed God would follow this path.

Rom_11:9  AndG2532 DavidG1138 saith,G3004 Let theirG848 tableG5132 be madeG1096 a(G1519) snare,G3803 andG2532 a(G1519) trap,G2339 andG2532 a(G1519) stumblingblock,G4625 andG2532 a(G1519) recompenceG468 unto them:G846

God does not tempt with an evil purpose. That is what James one says God does not do.

Jas 1:13  Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

It is appropriate for us to pray our path be for righteousness. God can tempt for his purpose but Satan has an evil purpose.

The Lord's prayer asks that we be led out of Satan's purpose. That is why the word "lead" is right. God can let us fall into temptation, or he can deliberately lead us around temptation. God's word leads us out of temptation.

The Pope is simply wrong and isn't led by God. He was given a temptation to change Christ's wording.

Proverbs 30:6

Pro 30:5  EveryH3605 wordH565 of GodH433 is pure:H6884 heH1931 is a shieldH4043 unto them that put their trustH2620 in him.

Pro 30:6  AddH3254 thou notH408 untoH5921 his words,H1697 lestH6435 he reproveH3198 thee, and thou be found a liar.H3576

The Lord's prayer asks God to lead us
