Belief and Repentance

Many teach salvation is belief only, meaning belief in a simple set of facts, they often leave out many of the principles God delivered to us. One is belief in repentance. Acts 17 shows a part of belief is the belief in repentance.

Act 17:30

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

In this sense it is repentance from idols to the acceptance of Christ's judgment.

Faith only people may twist this to say it is just turning from idols so that repentance is very limited in its subject breadth, but repentance is still repentance no matter what the context or how limited it is. The next verse , however, expands the context to Christ's judgments

Act 17:31

Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained;

Then Acts 17 says many believed Paul.

Act 17:34

Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

In this case the context of belief includes repentance to Christ. If you don't believe repentance is necessary then you wouldn't believe Paul.
