Faith and Galations

Just as in Romans, Paul is consistent in Galations by tying obedience to faith. He surrounds faith passages with obedience remarks, to make it clear it is an obedient faith he is teaching.

Gal 3:1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

Gal 5:7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?

The faith passages are in between these two obedience passages. Faith is mentioned before Galations 3:1, but as "The faith" or as "The faith of Christ" or "the faith of the Son of God", those teachings born through Christ and coming from him. It is "the faith" and not just faith in general. All of these are inclusive of all things like Christ's teachings and commandments.

Thus obedience to the faith given by God's son is portrayed from 3:1 to 5:7. Galations isn't faith alone, but calls for obedience to all things Christ instructed. This is a mirror image of Romans 1:5 thru Romans 16:25, where "Obedience of faith" is primary.

Rom 1:5  By whom we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for his name:

Rom 16:26  But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith

Many might say it isn't obedience but belief, but belief is a command we must obey. Obedience of faith is seen in belief, baptism, faithfulness to Christ's teachings, etc.
