PAST EVENT COMMENTS

"I would like to thank you for arranging a most enjoyable event on Sunday. The Vee Challenge was super and the arrangement were excellent. The route was a great balance of challenge and scenery and showed me parts of Waterford I had not seen before (particularly Villiarstown). The registration was simple and efficient, signposting and marshalling was very good and the food stop was superb. I appreciate how much work goes into such an event and am grateful to Youghal Cycling Club for rising to this challenge (off the bike) so that I could rise to mine (on the bike)."

" The quality of an leisure event can be judged by what happens at the rear of the field as well as at the front

As winner of the "Lanterne Rouge" for 2011, I would like to thank all who helped make the event such a success.

Plenty of food left at the Cats food stop and at the GAA Club, served with courtesy and a smile.

Marshals still in place at all junctions, with a few words of encouragement.

Support, help and good humour from the Broom Wagon crew."

"Dear youghal cycling club,

a small group of us took part in the vee challenge last sunday organised by your club.

despite the biblical rain we had a great ride..the route was brilliant, the marshalling was efficient and friendly, the food stop was just what we needed when we needed it and the facilities at youghal were just grand.

so, thank you all for organising a splendid day out."

This year Youghal Cycling Club are delighted to announce, that in 2012, we will be supporting local athlete Amanda Crotty . Amanda, who has been visually impaired since birth, is a member of Youghal Athletic Club and the Irish Paralympic Team. As a visually impaired runner, she competes while tethered to a guide, who must always remain behind the athlete.Earlier this year she achieved an Olympic qualifaction time, but unfortunately the Irish Paralympic team are not entering a team in her discipline,so she is not London bound. Her training will continue though as she also has the World Championships to prepare for next year and her expenses continue to accumulate on a monthly basis.

We are also delighted to announce that Cognex Corporation have continued their sponsorship of The Vee Challenge for 2012. Running a cycling sportiff has significant costs and recurring expenses. Having a main sponsor is a massive help to the Club and ensures maximum return of funds raised to the chosen recipients. Cognex Corporation designs, develops, manufactures and markets a range of products that incorporate sophisticated machine vision technology that gives them the ability to “see.” Cognex products include barcode readers, machine vision sensors and machine vision systems that are used in factories, warehouses and distribution centres around the world to guide, gauge, inspect, identify and assure the quality of items during the manufacturing and distribution process. Cognex is the world’s leader in the machine vision industry, having shipped more than 700,000 vision-based products, representing over $3 billion in cumulative revenue, since the company’s founding in 1981.
