YOUGHAL CYCLING CLUB NOTES 17th October 2010

KEITH PHELAN FUNDRAISING CYCLE - Sunday 17th October

Last Sunday, Youghal C.C. participated in a fundraising cycle in aid of local lad, Keith Phelan. The Phelan family, from Raheen Park, Youghal, has launched a campaign to raise funds to send their 11 year old son, Keith, who suffers from Cerebral Palsy, for an operation in Germany, in the hope that it will improve their son’s quality of life.

A healthy peleton of 58 gathered at Moby Dicks on a fine morning to participate in the fundraising cycle. Photo shoot complete, we departed at 10.00am and headed out the main road to Killeagh at a very relaxing pace that suited all based on the volume of conversations that were taking place. From Killeagh we rode on to Castlemartyr where we stopped at The Village Greengrocer’s for a fantastic spread of refreshments kindly sponsored by The Village Greengrocer. Suitably refueled, the peleton re-grouped and returned to Youghal again via Killeagh at an equally comfortable pace to the outward journey. We arrived back in Youghal for 12.30pm with an enjoyable 35km completed for a very worthy cause. Thanks to all the club members and friends who participated in the event with the good attendance on the day resulting in a substantial sum of money being raised for Keith’s campaign.

From all at the Club Keith, we wish you the best of luck with the rest of your fundraising campaign and more importantly in your future operation which we hope will be of a great success.

A special thanks to all that helped out on the day and in particular to The Village Greengrocer, Castlemartyr, who on the day kindly provided their facilities and sponsored all the delicious refreshments for all those who participated in the cycle. Thank you from all at the Club for your continued support throughout the many events that the club has participated in this year.
