YOUGHAL CYCLING CLUB NOTES 04th & 11th OCTOBER 2009

The Weekly Spin – Sunday 04th October.

Good weather was again on show as the Youghal Club gathered as always by the Clock Gate for our weekly spin. Where was all this good weather in the summer?. The spin for the morning was a lesurily 70km spin around West Waterford. A fine peleton of 23 left Youghal at 9.00am sharp and headed directly to Dungarvan along the good road, once in Dungarvan, we took the Cappoquin road until we arrived at the Welcome Inn where we turned left and rode through Aglish, Clashmore and Piltown before arriving back in Youghal for 11.50am. On our return we had to organize a search party for a certain Johnny Bulman who disappeared during the spin. We understand that he may have took a wrong turn along the way but we later found out that since he loved the county of Waterford so much he decided so stay on in the county for an extra hour on the bike. Good Man John. New Riders on the day included Ross, Jason and Trevor. Well done to the newcomers for completing their first spin with the club. Noticeable absentees from the spin were John Flynn, Anthony Kenneally & Cillian Kenneally. John Flynn had twittered that he and Anthony Kenneally had hung up their wheels for the month of October so that they can concentrate on putting in a heavy block of Friday and Saturday night training in some of the local bars as well as some Altitude training in the Quay’s Nightclub for the Xmas party.

The Weekly Spin – Sunday 11th October.

The Youghal Club gathered as always by the Clock Gate for our weekly spin. The spin for the morning was a lesurily 70km spin around West Waterford. A group of 15 left Youghal at 9.00am sharp and headed up the Tallow road, where the legs were nicely warmed up on the climb. Once in Tallow we rode directly to Lismore and then Cappoquin before stopping at the Super Value for the usual hot cup. From there we rode through the scenic Dromina Drive, through Villerstown, Aglish and Clashmore before arriving back in Youghal for 12.10pm. Some more new faces were again on show. Well done to the newcomers for completing their first spin with the club.

Monthly Meeting.

Our Usual monthly meeting took place last Wednesday in the Holy family church hall. Numerous items of cycling matters were discussed but in particular it was stressed that anyone participating with the club on the Sunday morning spins must ware a helmet. A new club kit for next season was also discussed along with the renewal of everyone’s Cycling License. In addition, all members along with anyone else participating on cycling spins with the club, are asked to attend the next monthly meeting on the 4th of

November at 8.00pm in the Holy Family Church Hall in Youghal where we will have our AGM.

Majorca 2009 Reunion.

Best wishes from all at the club to our Tandem pair of John Tracey & Seamus Kelly who will be participating in the NCBI’S cycling challenge in Majorca between the 10th & 17th October.
