The 10am group consisting of 8 riders departed Moby Dicks and also hit the Dungarvan road before turning down onto Piltown and the back road Ardmore. From there they climbed up the Kiely's cross road before turning right and taking the coast road to Ring where they refueled. On they rolled and climbed up to the Shanachie before coasting home the main road to Youghal for 2.00pm with 65km completed. P.S. MIND THOSE CONES ALICE !!

Specsavers Grand Prix, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford.

Dungarvan held their annual road race last Sunday in Dungarvan and Youghal C.C. were well represented with 4 riders. Brian Sanders and Eoin White participated in the 80km A3 race which covered the course at an average of 40km /hr. The race finished in a bunch sprint with both finishing in the main group. Jason Collins participated in the 40km A4 race which also covered the course at a brisk pace of 35km / hr. This also finished in a bunch sprint with Jason also in the main group. Finally, Young Chris participated in his first ever cycling race when he took the line for the 40 km under 16 race. A high speed was also maintained for this race with a resulting bunch sprint and a 5 placing for Chris in his first ever event. Well done to all lads.

YOUGHAL CYCLING CLUB NOTES 15th August 2010

THE SUNDAY SPIN – Sunday 15th August 2010

Training resumed for the Kelly last Sunday when a group of 6 departed Youghal at 8.00am. When rode steady to Dungarvan and Cappoquin before turning up for Mellary. Up we climbed on past Mellary after which we dropped down into Newcastle ( Co. Tipp ) where we stopped for the coffee. Refreshed, we rode back to Clogheen and up over the Vee for a second time before dropping down into Lismore. From there we rolled onto Tallow and climbed out again on the Youghal road. We returned to Youghal for 1.30pm with a challenging 130km completed. Great training spin with great weather.
