Youghal Cycling Club Notes – Sunday 18th November 2012

Club Spins Regular spins continue to happen regularly as scheduled with large numbers in attendance. There are groups doing interval training on the various climbs around town during the midweek evening spins. The Saturday morning rides are also going very strong as the groups have complete the first stage of the winter training. Over the coming weeks they will start to see some climbing introduced to the spins and intensity going up slightly while still keeping the group together. Sunday remains the main day for Club spins. This Sunday was the first cold start with Jack Frost making an appearance. This did not deter the men and women of Youghal CC, as we had two large groups roll out from Lidl carpark shortly after 9am. The starter group has been steadily working on the miles for the past few weeks. This week saw them start to introduce some climbs into the spin. With that the group of 26 riders headed off towards Clashmore and took the steady climb to Whitechurch before swinging left and stopping off in Cappoquin for the tea stop and bit of banter. Warmed up, the group then came back to Youghal via the rolling Dromana Drive with a nice 40 miler in the legs. Meanwhile the intermediate group of 18 riders took the coast road to Dungarvan. From here they rode out to Cappagh before turning back to Youghal and getting in before lunch with a respectable 60 miles on the legs.
