Re-freshed from our stop in Cappoquin, we headed for Knockanore. This week it was Little Schleck showing his age by letting the Secretary change a puncture for him. What is it with this puncture repair fetish Jonathan ?.Puncture repaired, we rode on and up the climb into Knockanore where it all kicked off again off. The big ring was on show by all as the heads were put down oo the outskirts of Knockanore. Cav and Jason ! were pushing hard at the front and it was flat out on the decent down into Glendine where we all came together again for the run back into Youghal. It wasn’t over yet though as we slogged it out up the bye-pass and then dropped back down into Town where we arrived at 12.15pm with 80km completed. One of the best spins of the year was gladly completed.

The 10 O’ Clock group consisting of 5 riders also gathered on the good morning and also traveled up the Tallow road before turning down into Knockanore and back to Youghal for 12.00pm with a challenging 40km completed for those who participated. Sean however did 50km. Nice one !!

Tour Of Flanders

As the Sunday regulars all know, myself and John Flynn were in Belgium over Easter for a weekend of bikes, beer, frites and mayonnaise. A full ride report will shortly be published in Hardback and will be titled “ BONKERS – ITS NOT ABOUT THE BIKE ! ” .

YOUGHAL CYCLING CLUB NOTES 11th April 2010

The Shorts Are Out ! – Sunday 11th April.

What a day, what a day we had when a healthy group of 26 gathered at Moby Dicks at 9.00am for our usual Sunday morning spin. The sun was shinning and the shorts were finally broken out. In addition, another new machine was unveiled and of course in was a TREK. Well ware Jon !! Team Trek is slowly consuming Youghal C.C.

Anyway, we headed up the Tallow road in silence while everyone warmed up and dodged the potholes, AGAIN, as we dropped down into Tallow. From there we road over the climb, on the back road to Ballyduff, dropped down into Ballyduff and took the, although scenic, cobble replicated road to Lismore. From there we opened it up to the fuel stop in Cappoquin. Nice to see Dr. Declan and Dr. Matt along with their two espoirs out for a training spin, there are a lot of miles required between now and the Ring Of Kerry gentlemen !!
