With the cold snap still with us and warmer days still in the far distance, an event on our doorstep in four months time run by Midleton could be a nice little motivator to start getting the miles in now.

Midleton Cycling & Tri Club, are holding the 2nd Annual Stephen Roche 'TOUR DE CURE' Charity Cycle Sportif on Saturday, 8th May 2010 based around Midleton Co- Cork. The legendary Stephen Roche is centrally associated with the event once again and will be riding the routes with as many participants in the hope of raising significant funds to support 2010's two selected great causes.

This year, the organisers are adding an extra dimension,

    • An Event Dinner with Stephen along with other special guests is being planned for Friday Evening May 7th

    • Cycling Sportif on Saturday May 8th

  • A criterium race will be held along the streets of Midleton for Senior 2, Senior 3, Senior 4, Vets, Ladies and Junior Riders on Sunday May 9th along with a Race of Champions.

The 4 courses on offer have been individually selected and will loop through the beautiful East Cork and Waterford Counties. Participants will in 2010 now have a choice of 1 extra route with a new "15km Family Run" being added [10euro per rider or 20euro per family up to 4], along with the "50km Route for Novice" riders [40euro pre-entry/50euro on the day], the "100km Challenge for Leisure" riders [40euro pre-entry/50euro on the day] and the "160km Challenger Route" [40euro pre-entry/50euro on the day] for the advanced bike riders.

So start getting the base miles in now!!
