YOUGHAL CYCLING CLUB NOTES 8th DECEMBER 2009

The Weekly Spin – Sunday 8th December.

The previous two Sunday mornings turned out to be complete wash outs with no spin taking place on Sunday the 15th & 22nd of November. It was again quite bad early on in the morning but a few mad for road men went out for an hour on Sunday 29th November. Last Sunday it started out quite bad with the weather but another three, just can’t get enough road men, headed off towards West Waterford from Moby Dicks at around 9.00am. Not much to report about the spin except for that some of the new club members drove on the spin and put the club web master, Jon Flynn ( A K A Schleck Snr ) under a lot of pressure. Pay back time for the espoir's then eh !!! Jon. The weather did improve as the morning went on and 60km was covered on the spin with the lads returning at around 11.30am.

New Club Website

Jon Flynn launched our new and improved Club website last week and it must be said that he has done a fantastic job. The site looks really good with lots of information about the club and cycling in general. It has to be seen by all at http://sites.google.com/site/youghalcyclingclubsite/

Monthly Meeting.

Our Monthly Club meeting will take place this, Wednesday the 9th of December at 8.00pm in the Holy family church hall. All members are asked to attend along with anyone who is interested in joining the Club.

Weekend Spins.

As you are all well aware by now, there is a weekly spin every Sunday morning at 9.00am sharp leaving from Moby Dicks Pub by the Clock Gate. This spin which runs on various routes every week usually takes between 2 to 3 hours ( weather permitting ) and covers on average between 50 to 70km ( 35 to 50 miles ). The pace is comfortable and we usually stop half way around for a coffee or tea.

A second group also goes on a weekly spin every Sunday morning at 10.00am sharp leaving from Moby Dicks Pub by the Clock Gate. This spin which runs on various routes every week usually takes around 2 hours to complete and covers on average between 30 to 40km ( 20 to 25 miles ). The pace is again very comfortable.

This is the perfect time for someone new to start with the group. With a steady pace and friendly people you are assured of an enjoyable spin. New members or visitors to the area are always welcome.

If you have any questions about the club or attending one of our weekend spins, please contact our Club Secretary Jonathan at 086-8563292 for details. See you all Sunday Morning !!.

Until next week, safe cycling !!.
