The Weekly Spin – Sunday 28th February.

Sunday morning arrived as always and we were greeted with a clear blue sky and a fresh breeze for our weekly spin. A group of 8 riders gathered as always at Moby Dicks at 9.00am. The planned route for the morning was a climbing spin to Tallow, Lismore, Cappoquin, Villerstown, Aglish, Clashmore and Home. We climbed on up the Tallow road in a group of silence, silence except for all the heavy breathing that is, dodged all the potholes from the top of the climb to Tallow and watched the Secretary salute all his comrades as we passed through Tallow ( i.e. The Tallowban ). From there we climbed out of Tallow and rolled onto Lismore at a brisk pace. We flew through Lismore and onto Cappoquin. However, it wasn’t long before nature called for the old reliable outside Cappoquin. In Cappoquin we warmly refueled and sampled some energy bars as used by the pro’s. All agreed that we didn’t have to eat what the pro’s had to eat. The main group took off again towards Dromina Drive, while some headed for Dungarvan. We warmed up again on the way to Villerstown, onto Aglish and headed to Clashmore before the call of nature struck again for the usual suspect. When we eventually got going, the pro energy bar kicked in and we flew through Clashmore and Piltown before arriving back in Youghal for around 12.00pm with another 70km in the legs. However the spin is never complete for some without the usual tear up the Youghal Bypass. A great spin was had by all.

The 10 O’ Clock group consisting of 4 riders also gathered on the good morning and traveled out the main road to Killeagh before turning down the bog road for Ballymacoda and Knockadoon. They refueled in Ballymacoda on the way back before making their way to Ladysbridge and Castlemartyr. From their, they traveled back the main road through Killeagh and opened it up for the run into Youghal where they arrived at 1.00pm with 40km completed. Another great spin for those who participated.

Best Of Luck

Best of luck to Club Man and Club Sponsor John Welsh who is getting married next week. Lay off the cocktails while on Honeymoon now John, Better still, why don’t you bring the bike, if it’s not sold, for a few spins.
