CLUB NOTES

Post date: Jan 25, 2010 7:3:46 PM

Best wishes to the boy of the Bulman’s, who successfully repeated Eoin’s slip on the ice last week at the Mill Road roundabout. The things people do to get out of a spin on a cold morning ehh !!. Hard luck also to Eoin, who continues to have problems with these Carbon Cosmic wheels. They failed him last week and the failed him again last Sunday. Would you ever go away and get a decent pair of wheels Eoin. And what about the sneaky training then lads, the blocklayer was at it again last Saturday when he was spotted in Dungarvan. Nice one John, you can’t get away with anything around here without been spotted by someone.

A reminder to all that you should all be trying to attend the spins every week so that we can all improve our form at a similar level. If you miss too many spins then you know you are only going to fall behind.

New Sponsors

The search for new sponsors goes on to help fund the new club kit and as always it is proving quite difficult. If anyone knows of any business or person interested in sponsoring the club then please contact our Club Secretary Jonathan at 086-8563292 for details.

Weekend Spins.

As you are all well aware by now, there is a weekly spin every Sunday morning at 9.00am sharp leaving from Moby Dicks Pub by the Clock Gate. This spin which runs on various routes every week usually takes between 2 to 3 hours ( weather permitting ) and covers on average between 50 to 70km ( 35 to 50 miles ). The pace is comfortable and we usually stop half way around for a coffee or tea.

A second group also goes on a weekly spin every Sunday morning at 10.00am sharp leaving from Moby Dicks Pub by the Clock Gate. This spin which runs on various routes every week usually takes around 2 hours to complete and covers on average between 30 to 40km ( 20 to 25 miles ). The pace is again very comfortable.

This is the perfect time for someone new to start with the group. With a steady pace and friendly people you are assured of an enjoyable spin. New members or visitors to the area are always welcome. If you have any questions about the club or attending one of our weekend spins, please contact our Club Secretary Jonathan at 086-8563292 for details. See you all Sunday Morning !!. Until next week, safe cycling !!.

YOUGHAL CYCLING CLUB NOTES 24th JANUARY 2010

The Weekly Spin – Sunday 24th January.

The Sun and a blanket of white Ice greeted the riders of Youghal Cycling Club last Sunday morning when we meet as always outside Moby Dicks at around 9.00am. A group of 10 headed ont on the N25 to Dungarvan while the absentees curled up in their warm beds. A steady pace just about kept us all warm as we climbed from Youghal to Kiely’s Cross but colder conditions were ahead. As we dropped down into Dungarvan, we were greeted with a freezing fog which stayed with us all the way from Dungarvan to Cappoquin. While in Dungarvan we enjoyed a well earned cup of Coffee and for some a nice warm bag of Sausage Rolls. Nice one Jason !!. Some way warmed up we headed straight back into the freezing fog which traveled with us from Cappoquin, through Dromana Drive into Aglish and Clashmore where while climbing out of Clashmore the Sun finally broke through. We warmed up from there and arrived back in Youghal for 12.30pm with 75km in the legs.
