YOUGHAL CYCLING CLUB NOTES 26th September 2010

Tour Of The Knockmealdowns Sportif 2010

Fermoy CC held their annual club tour last Sunday the 26th September a 5 riders from Youghal C.C travelled to take part in the comfortable 90km route which traveled from Fermoy to Ballyduff, Lismore, over the Vee, Clogheen, Micthelstown and back to Fermoy. It was a cold day on the bike as the first signs of winter had arrived. A large peloton of around 200 gathered for the event with Mick making a late arrival from his altitude training in the alps. There was no holding him back as he led the group up and over the Vee. With the peloton re-grouping in Clogheen for the token can of coke and digestive bicky, it wasn’t long before Wayne took out his frustration, over the cold and the lack of butter on the biscuits, by throwing himself down and almost under the oncoming jeep with horse box. If your frustrated Wayne, take it out on the road while cycling your bike, not literally taking out the road. We shortly returned to Fermoy for a fine feed of tea, sandwiches and cake, a warm chat with some of the other clubs and then home with a satisfied spin in the legs.

Monthly Club Meeting

Our October Club Meeting will take place next Wednesday the 6th of October at the Holy Family Church, Youghal at 8.00pm. All club members are asked to attend as well as anyone interested in taking up the challenge of cycling. There will be lots to discuss and arrange and in particular the training schedule and times for the winter spins every Sunday morning. This will be the ideal time for anyone interested in cycling to get started as the distances will shorten and speed slowing down for the winter months.
