VALENTINES DAY CATASTROPHY – Sunday 14th February.

Serious Questions have to be asked about certain member’s commitment to the club after last Sundays spin. We were hearing about all sorts of excuses such as “ I HAD A BAD CURRY LAST NIGHT ” and “ I WAS ON A TRAINING COURSE ” as well as “ THE FORKS ON MY BIKE ARE BEING REPLACED ”. It’s quite obvious who is wearing the pants in those households. For the group of 10 riders that did gather at Moby Dicks at 9.00am, a bright and fresh morning was our reward for turning up. We duly headed on out the main road to Dungarvan and were all well warmed up by the time we reached the Shanachie where we then opened up the throttle all the way down into Dungarvan. We rode through Dungarvan and stopped at the Garage at the Clonmel junction for a well deserved hot cup of coffee. Refueled, we traveled on towards Cappoquin before turning left at The Welcome Inn and onto Aglish. We were cruising along nicely before Wayne got a bit tired and so decided to have a puncture. While some answered the call of nature for the duration of the puncture repair, the rest compared how Rose-mantic they were to their better halves over the weekend. When we eventually got going again we rode a good pace into Clashmore before turning up past the GAA grounds to see who had anything left. We rode on through Tinock and Ardsallagh before arriving back in Youghal for around 12.15pm with 70km in the legs. Some then decided to open it up over the Bypass to finish themselves off while the man with the NEW BIKE , and an empty bladder, must have had a great weekend as he carried on out to Killeagh and back. Well done to all on the day as a most enjoyable spin was had and especially by myself who was making my grand return. No excuses from me lads, I wear the pants in my house.

The 10 O’ Clock group consisting of 4 riders also gathered on the good morning and traveled out the main road to Killeagh before turning down the bog road for Ballymacoda and Knockadoon. They refueled in Ballymacoda on the way back before making their way to Ladysbridge and Castlemartyr. From their, they traveled back the main road through Killeagh and opened it up for the run into Youghal where they arrived at 1.00pm with 40km completed. Another great spin for those who participated.
