IRIS AND PEONY SHOW 2024

Missoula Iris Society will once again partner with the Missoula Garden Club to have a joint Iris and Peony Show.
The Show will be held at the G. W. Marks Exploration Center Butterfly House and Insectarium Balsam Root Room located at the Missoula County Fairgrounds from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
GENERAL RULES
1. Exhibition privileges are open to all, free of charge.
2. The show consists of seven divisions: Horticultural; Artistic; Educational; and Commercial.
3. Entry tags will be provided for all exhibitors for all entries.
4. Entries will be received on the day of the show , Friday, June 10, from 7:00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. Artistic arrangements will be accepted from 7:00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. Late entries will NOT be eligible for judging or awards, but can be used for display purposes.
5. Horticultural judging and Artistic judging will begin Friday at 10:30 a.m. to 12.00 noon.
6. Ribbons and/or awards will be given only if warranted. Only Blue Ribbon Winners scoring 95 points or higher will be considered for Special Awards and for Best Specimen.
7. Entries are to be removed by 6 6.m. on Saturday, June 11, by the exhibitor or they will be disposed of as directed by the MIS.
8. The Missoula Iris Society (MIS) rules allow judges to enter exhibits in the show.
9. The Missoula Iris Society is not responsible for any loss or damage during the show.
10. Official rules and regulations of the American Iris Society apply and cannot be violated.
HORTICULTURAL RULES
1. All entries MUST be grown, staged and placed IN PERSON in the proper section by the exhibitor. MIS will provide the tubular containers. Space will be available at the show site for staging.
2. The show consists of four divisions: I- Horticulture Open; II- Horticulture Youth 18 and under; III-Horticulture\ Novice; IV- Seedlings.
3. Youth exhibitors and Novice exhibitors may enter their respective divisions or the Open Division but not both.
4. A Novice is one who has won 6 blue ribbons or less. Open is one who has won 7 or more blue ribbons.
5. Every attempt will be made to identify the registered name of the entry. Unnamed Iris will be used for display purposes only and receive unofficial awards.
6. This is a cultivar show, exhibitors may enter only ONE specimen per named variety but may enter as many sections and varieties as desired.
7. Only one iris may be awarded "Best Specimen of Show" and only correctly named varieties of iris, or properly identified iris Species, will be eligible for this award.
8. English Box--a collection of six (6) individual blooms, each bloom of a different variety, correctly labeled, all the same group. Each box shall have a title.
9. Collection of Three- a collection of three (3) Iris blooms consisting of: 1 Plicata, blend or fancy iris bloom and (1) bloom of each of the corresponding predominant colors.
10. Sections or groups for bulbous irises, collections, and English boxes are eligible to receive award ribbons, special section awards and section rosettes. Award ribbons are included in the tally for Silver ad Bronze Medal/Certificates although these entries are not eligible for the "Best Specimen of Show" award.

Please mark the Entry Tag correctly - both top and bottom - with the correct Division, Section and Variety. Add the Group/Class where applicable. Failure could lead to the disqualification of the exhibit.

Exhibits must adhere to the AIS rules as printed in the current Judges Handbook. Any seedling receiving five (5) or more votes from Accredited AIS Judges attending the show will receive an AIS Exhibition Certificate (EC)

DIVISION V - ARTISTIC RULES:
One or more iris blooms must be used on each design; iris must be the dominant flower in the design.
No artificial plant material and no spraying of any live plant material is allowed.
The use of iris foliage in a design is the choice of the designer.
Plant materials used in a design does not have to be grown by the designer.
The use of any part(s) of plants on the state conservation list is strictly prohibited
The show committee will endeavor to protect all exhibits but cannot be held responsible for loss or damage to the exhibitor's property.
Designer must have entry completed and in place by 10.00 a.m.
Youth entries will be judged separately from the adult entries.
Judging in the Artistic Design division will be done by Accredited American Iris Society Judges or national Garden Club Accredited judges.

DIVISION VI - EDUCATIONAL
An exhibit pertaining to the advancement of knowledge concerning any aspect of the culture of iris. Flowers for this exhibit need not have been grown by the exhibitor. A light orchid rosette may be awarded.
DIVISION VII - COMMERCIAL
Class 1: An exhibit pertaining to exhibitor's business. A light orchid rosette may be given as an award of appreciation.
