Minutes of October Meeting:

SATURDAY, October 6, 2012 Meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Ed Verplancke at the home of Gary Clark. Ed asked if the minutes and treasurers reports were read and if there were any alterations or corrections, a motion was made by Alverta and seconded by Ann and Bob, the September Minutes and Treasurer's Reports were approved as printed in the new letter.

Treasurer Report: Checking $615.92, Savings $11,836.98, per Swede, he has paid some bills since and a final report will be in the news letter.

Old Business: Gary reported on the nomination committee, Ed will be President again, thanks Ed. Still looking for a Vice President. Swede will be treasurer for one more year, but this is his last year. He would like someone to step in and be an apprentice so that they will be ready to take over next year. If you like book keeping and are interested please step-up and take over this position. Carol Addeo will be Secretary.

Betty Ann sent out 21 post cards to members that don't attend the meetings and invited them to join us. Carol did hear from one member, but they could not make it as they had a prior commitment.

Swede and Betty Ann visited Tina & Daughters Iris Garden in Laurel Montana. They had the Dyke Medal irises we were missing for our Dyke's bed. Swede will be potting them up and then planting them in the bed next spring. A Thank you note will be sent to them for there contribution to our Dyke Bed. Also we will be needing to add this years winner Florentine Silk. Ann believes that possibly Jeanette in Idaho has it, and will contact her to see if we can get it. We will then be the only iris garden in the US with a complete Dyke iris bed.

New Business: Billie wants to schedule a weeding party at the fort on the Saturday the 20th from 10 or 11 am for after the frost has lifted, it's time to put the bed to rest for the season. Ed and Anita have done the baby and dyke beds already.

Ed wants to call a board meeting for Sunday November 4th, it will be at Swede and Betty Ann's at 1:00 pm. All the officer's need to be there, but all members are welcomed to come.

It has been noted that some type of rodent has been at the fort gardens. Kerry Forrester did not see anything of concern when he went out to investigate. Members believe it is Voles, not good as they will they rhizomes and lily roots. Further discussion followed.

Alverta has heard from Region 17, where the 2013 Convention will be held. They would like unique items from each of the Regions for the AIS convention - to auction off. More information is needed as to when they need the items. We believe if we bring items by the February meeting to add to a basket that will be put together to send to them it should be there in plenty of time. Items should be unique to our area, thinking items such as huckleberry jam etc.

Jim has 10 yards of gravel in his front yard to give away. Go help yourselves.

Donna had her knee replaced and is in the hospital, we sent flowers and she should be leaving the hospital on the 7th of October.

The November meeting will be at Judy Blunt on November 3rd. Roger won the Presidential Rhizome for October. Meeting adjourned by Bob and Scotty seconded it. August Rhizome: Carol Barbian; September: Ed.
