Budget does not include the renovations planned for the garden in 2018 which were discussed during the November 5, 2017, general meeting. The renovations are proposed to begin following the bloom season and begin with building walls around three Dykes beds and adding new soils to these beds. The block work is planned to be completed without too much disturbance to the rhizomes until time to add the new soils. There will be some minor renovations to the big bed by removing the center entry at the south side of the bed to allow a larger plat in this area. Also there will be an outlined area made at the top of the bed using two layers of block about the space. This space will be designated for the newer irises we purchase each season. If there is time during the summer the median garden will be renovated also by removal of the shrubs on the museum side of the garden along with moving the rock wall. An additional walkway is planned within this garden for ease of care and viewing of the median irises. Estimated cost for materials to complete these proposed modifications $5000.00.
