2008 MIS IRIS TOUR

We are still asking for volunteers to sit at a garden sites from 10am – 4pm, Saturday June 7. We will need 2 people at each garden site to help with the fees and checking in for the public. We have 8 sites planned for the tour, so we will need at least 18 volunteers to help for our tour. Please think about this and let Billie Gray know ASAP. It’s only for a few hours and it will help us out to make a great tour. Thanks.

The meeting was called to order by President Cindy Davis. It was move by Fred Frey and seconded by Ed Verplancke that the minutes be accepted as printed in the Falls and Standards. Old Business

Shed: Pete Addeo applied to the county for the permits needed to begin building the shed. The county said these permits had to be issued by the city and MIS cannot directly apply for these permits. Pete has made arrangements for a licensed contractor to obtain the permits.

It has been arranged for some of Carson Vehr’s cement people to prepare the slab for the pouring of the concrete. JTL is donating the cement. Another volunteer cement worker will do the cement work. It is projected to have the slab poured and finished by the end of March.

Tour: The Tour is June 7, 2008. It is self-guided. The gardens may be visited in any order between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. There will be the Fort and seven other gardens on the tour. Volunteers are needed to host the various gardens and to punch tickets. Some people from the Garden Club have offered to help with this. Cindy Davis volunteered.

A brochure will be made up that will have a description of the gardens, a map to the gardens and a ticket to punch (or mark off) for each garden. The tickets can be picked up at any of the participating gardens and\or the fort. Tickets can be purchased in advance of the tour. Those purchased at the gardens will be a dollar more.

Signs need to be made that will direct people to the various gardens. These will be set out the day of the tour. Cash boxes are needed for each garden.

Sale: Pete and Carol Addeo have again offered the use of their yard for the pre-sale organizing.

By-Laws: The By-Laws are not currently on the website. Alverta Symes has the By- Laws on a disc and will get them to Pete Addeo so they can be added to the website.
