Marc h 2019

NEXT MEETING: Saturday, March 2 – Meeting at 6:30 p.m. with pot luck supper at Fort Missoula Building T-1.

Billie Gray, our member landscaping expert, will be giving another great slide presentation on landscaping with trees or shrubs.

TREASURER'S REPORT for MARCH, 2019

There has been no activity in either the Savings Account or Checking Account since I last reported for the February newsletter. Therefore the balances as reported remain the same numbers:

SAVINGS: $ 7605.10

CHECKING: $ 648.83

Haven't had much time recently to work on the 2019 membership lists due to lots of time spent working on completing remodeling of cabinets for use in a printing room for our church secretary.

It took almost two months to complete. Will plan on getting the listing up to date by the March meeting.

Respectfully submitted,

Swede Gustafson, Treasurer

MINUTES OF THE MIS MEETING OF FEBRUARY 2, 2019

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm by Betty Ann Gustafson.

Minutes stand as printed in the bulletin.

Treasurer’s report: Approved as printed in the newsletter, Swede stated no changes.

Sent in the AIS dues, we are now affiliated again.

Old Business:

Ron Dunn passed away. He did a lot for the club through the years, from working on the gardens from the beginning of their development, to working garden tours; he was very knowledgeable.

Leslie Lowney is willing to order and pay for new markers for the fort gardens. Swede is looking into types available and costs.

Judy Blunt is working on an article for our club for the Centennial committee for the AIS, regarding the history of our club.

Jim and Donna are co-chairpersons for the June 8th show in the mall. The theme will be around Smokey the Bear.

Rhonda will do the weeding at the fort gardens again this year.

New Business:

Jeanette Graham sent an email regarding changes to the AIS Bylaws:

“After a three year review by the AIS Board of Directors, AIS will be sending out a ballot to vote for a series of bylaws changes in the Winter Bulletin. All AIS members will be able to vote. Each proposed bylaws change will be able to be voted on separately. I am attaching information on how to vote and a summary of the changes. Please pass this on to all your affiliate presidents so they can inform their AIS members what to look for in the Winter Bulletin.

Also, by now you all should have received the affiliation reports for 2019. Please make sure that every club has one. When you receive them back from the clubs be sure to go to aislookup.org to check that all officers are AIS members for the year. Once you receive them please send them along with the membership fee to Jody Nolin as previously directed.

If some of your clubs don't meet until spring, please send the completed ones first then the late ones when you receive them.” Any questions, feel free to contact me. Howie Dash, RVP Counselor

I’ve attached a copy of the proposed changes below.

Upon discussion, the members of AIS in our club did not receive these changes or a ballot in our Fall bulletins as stated in Jeanette’s email.

Caras is holding an Orchid show on February 9th.

Gary is willing to be the sale chairman, but would like a co-chairperson. If you are interested please contact Gary.

There is a new exhibit at the Fort Missoula Museum on Vietnam.

Betty Ann and Swede will not be available for the March meeting. The March meeting is Saturday, March 2 – Meeting at 6:30 p.m. with pot luck supper at Fort Missoula Building T-1.

Ron Dowell won the presidential rhizome for February.

Betty Ann adjourned the meeting.

Respectfully submitted, Cindy Davis

Bylaws of the American Iris Society

Bylaws Review Committee

After a three-year review, the AIS Board of Directors has approved the attached amendments to the AIS Bylaws. These recommended changes are now going to you, the membership, for final approval.

The changes are recommended in several Articles of the Bylaws, so you may approve any, all, or none of them by voting on the attached ballot.

HOW TO READ THE CHANGES

At every change, you will see a change bar on the left hand margin. This indicates a change somewhere in the text, or formatting. Text changes are indicated by strikeouts (strikeout) or underlining of insertions (underlining). This way you can see the original text and the recommended change.

HOW TO VOTE

A ballot is also attached. Please indicate your approval or disapproval by an X in the appropriate box.

For dual members, place a 1 for the first member and a 2 for the second member.

When you have completed the Ballot, mail it to the AIS Secretary at:

Michelle Snyder
