Rhizome Sale Report from sale chairperson Carol Addeo: Another year of a lot of work by members. Thank you everyone. We got the job accomplished again this year with no major problems. I guess by now we know how to do this. The sale was a great success even with fewer than usual rhizomes to sell. Thanks to Ed, Gary and Scott, Judy and Cindy for taking the leftovers to the farmers market. The quality of the rhizomes was good, and the work load was much more manageable. Thanks to all the members who came to help with the preparation as well as the sale day. And thanks also to those who could come out Sunday before the sale the clean and trim. Thanks Bob for again picking up and returning our tables to the rental center. We had 162 variety of iris to sell this year. The Friday stone soup supper was great, thanks to everyone who contributed ingredients. The after sale party in the back yard of Billie Gray was great as usual. Betty Ann provided our food. Thanks again.

A donation of 24 iris rhizomes was made by MIS to Lewis and Clark Elementary for their school garden and landscaping project.

IN MEMORY OF PETE ADDEO

Retired businessman Peter Stephan Addeo, 66, passed away peacefully Sunday Aug 11 from cancer. Pete was a long time member of Missoula Iris Society and contributed to our organization in many different ways. He was a former president of the club for two terms, he was treasurer for a period of time, he acted as our webmaster for the web page he designed and maintained, he was our newsletter editor for many years and he was the designer of our MIS logo. Occasionally he did his share of weed pulling and dirt shuffling at the iris display garden at Fort Missoula. He will be missed.

Pete was born May 9, 1947 in Brooklyn, N.Y. and grew up in California. He was married to Carolyn Addeo for 25 years. He is survived by four children, Angela of Missoula, Regina, Lisa and Anthony of California, stepdaughter Sheri Wurth and step son Tim Wurth of Montana. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren.
